FAQS

Moving into a new home can be very daunting so our FAQs will help to put your mind at rest.

Our rates are affordable. Please enquire directly to the Manager for room prices.
No. We will take care of this for you. As we accept people over the age of 65 we are not normally charged for a TV License.
Sadly we cannot accept any pets to live with us at Ashgrove Care Home. But we can accept well-behaved visiting pets.

Your room at Ashgrove Care Home will be fully furnished with a bed, armchair, wardrobe and a bedside cupboard or chest of drawers according to the size of the room. Any extra furniture would need to be agreed upon in advance with the Manager before moving in.

Any extra services such as a hairdresser or chiropodist are charged on top of the weekly fee. Often these are independently run businesses, so charges are independent of fees. We have a hairdresser that visits weekly and a chiropodist that visits approximately every 6 weeks.

Residents are encouraged to have a small personal allowance (cash) which is kept in the safe at the home with a financial tracking sheet filled in so that you can always clearly see your expenditure. Valuables would be kept with the resident at their own risk, we encourage families to take valuables home with them.

All laundry is washed, dried and ironed in-house. We ask that all clothes are labelled clearly prior to admission to the home and when anything new is purchased. If you need help with this please talk to our Housekeeping team. Families are welcome to take their loved ones laundry home if they wish to do so.

You will be nominated a keyworker who will support you to purchase any items that you may need whilst staying at Ashgrove. Our residents are encouraged to go shopping with a member of staff to support them if a family member is unable to do so.

We certainly hope not! We encourage visits from your family, friends and neighbours. We can also place phone calls and video calls for you so that you can stay in touch with them regularly, we also welcome visiting pets to the home.

If they are on the residential unit, we can meet the changing needs and we have a bed available on the nursing unit, we may be able to offer a placement. We hope to be a ‘forever home’ and provide palliative care with staff trained in End of Life care. We will always do our best to meet your care needs, however if the care required is more complex we would ask for a re-assessment of care needs to ensure that you are always receiving the best care possible at all times.
